The Story God Wrote Through A Pen

I thought I was building gadgets, but God was writing a story.

When I built the first and second editions of the MaxOhr Pen in 2022, I had one goal in mind—to bring an idea to life. To make one of my regular ballpoint pens do more than just write.

I wasn’t in a sophisticated laboratory.
I didn’t have expensive tools or professional equipment.

Everything was built singlehandedly in my small room using only a 60-watt soldering iron, an analog multimeter, a pair of pliers, screwdrivers, and a metal file. Those simple tools, a regular ink pen and scrap gadgets were all I had, but they were enough for God to begin a journey whose full purpose I would only understand years later.

For now, this story begins with the second edition of the MaxOhr Pen.
Version 2.0 faithfully served me from 2022 until this year. It wasn’t perfect, but it was incredibly useful. It functioned as a regular writing pen, featured an LED light for studying in dark and dim environments, supported Bluetooth functionality, and was powered by a rechargeable 3.7 V lithium-ion battery through a Type-B charging port.

For four years, it accompanied me through studies, ideas, countless late nights, and moments of inspiration.
Then came 2026.
I decided it was time to improve it.
Ironically, my original intention wasn’t to redesign the pen.
I simply wanted to integrate a Battery Management System (BMS) to optimize the charging and discharging of the lithium-ion battery.
That was the plan.
Nothing more.
Or so I thought.
As I began examining the pen, one improvement led to another.
Suddenly, I realised I could make the LED brighter.
Then I thought about improving the Bluetooth sound quality. I wanted richer bass and clearer audio.
At that point, I knew replacing individual components wouldn’t be enough.
If I truly wanted something better, I had to completely dismantle the pen and rebuild it.

Meanwhile, some time ago, I wanted to prepare documentation for the pen, so I decided to employ the services of AI to help proofread the document.
One of AI-generated descriptions referred to the pen as a touchscreen stylus.
That wasn’t true.
It was simply an error.
My first reaction was to correct it.

Then I remembered that erroneous description, and a thought crossed my mind.
“What if I actually made it one?”
That single question changed everything.
I began researching.
Studying.
Experimenting.
I wanted the stylus to work naturally, without depending on the battery. I wanted users to switch effortlessly between writing on paper and navigating digital screens with the same pen.
I wanted the pen not only to write on paper but also to write on screens.
Eventually, by God’s grace, I solved it.
Just as He has faithfully helped me solve countless engineering challenges before.
Now there was no turning back.
The old design had to give way.
I replaced the old LED with two brighter LEDs for a better study experience in dark and dim environments.
I improved the Bluetooth module to achieve richer bass and more refined sound quality.
I replaced the old Type-B charging port with a USB Type-C port.
The passive touchscreen stylus was integrated.
By then, it was obvious.
This wasn’t an upgrade anymore.
It was an entirely new build.
The pen had to be completely taken apart.
Every component.
Every wire.
Every connection.                                                                                                                                          The old version had to come to an end before the new one could begin.

It was while taking the pen apart that the Lord began to minister to me.
He said,
“This is exactly what I do when I want to change a person’s story.”
I stopped working.
I listened.
Then He continued.
“I cannot simply patch up a broken life. In that person’s best interest, I must first put the old life apart so that, out of its ashes, a new life can emerge.”
Suddenly, I wasn’t looking at a pen anymore.
I was looking at people.
I was looking at myself.
I realised that what looked like destruction was actually preparation.
The death of the old was not the end.
It was the beginning of something far better.

As I held the dismantled pieces of Version 2.0 in my hands, another thought came to me.
If the pen were human, perhaps it would question me.
Perhaps it would even accuse me.
“Why are you destroying me?”
“I’ve served you faithfully for four years.”
“Why would you take me apart?”
From its perspective, everything it knew was falling apart.
It couldn’t see what I was seeing.
It didn’t know what I had already envisioned.
It didn’t know there was a Version 3.0 in my mind long before I picked up the screwdriver.
Its present condition looked like destruction.
Mine looked like transformation.

That is when the Lord impressed another truth upon my heart.
How often do we do the same with Him?
When life begins to fall apart…
When doors close…
When dreams collapse…
When carefully arranged plans suddenly shatter…
We conclude that God has abandoned us.
We question His love.
We question His faithfulness.
Sometimes we even question His existence.
Yet perhaps, like the pen lying in pieces before me, we simply can not see what the Builder already sees.
Perhaps He is not destroying us.
Perhaps He is rebuilding us.

Perhaps that is where you are today.
Your life feels like it has been taken apart.
Things you carefully planned are no longer working.
Doors you expected to remain open have closed.
Relationships have ended.
Opportunities have disappeared.
You prayed, yet everything seems to be moving in the opposite direction.

If that is your story, I want you to know something the Lord showed me through this pen.
The Builder sees what the creation cannot yet see.
Version 2.0 could not understand why it had to be dismantled.
It could not see the touchscreen stylus.
It could not imagine the brighter dual LED lighting.
It knew nothing about the improved Bluetooth sound quality with richer bass.
It had never seen a USB Type-C charging port.
All it could see was that everything familiar was disappearing.
But I wasn’t trying to destroy it.
I was trying to make it better.

Likewise, many times, we cannot see the better plans our Creator has for us. We only see what is leaving, while He sees what is coming. We mourn the old because we have not yet seen the beauty of the new.
The Lord reminded me that His thoughts are higher than ours. His plans are greater than ours. Our own plans must bow so that His better plans can be given expression.

As I continued building Version 3.0, I noticed something else.
There were design errors I had overlooked when I built Version 2.0 back in 2022.
At the time, I simply didn’t know any better.
Over the years, I had learned more.
I had grown.
My understanding had deepened.
So I corrected those errors.
I also replaced several components with better-quality ones. The result was an overall improvement in both the functionality and the design of the pen.

Then the Lord spoke again.
How often does He do the same with us?
He sees flaws we cannot see.
He takes us through the process to remove attitudes that no longer fit where He is taking us.
He corrects habits that would eventually limit us.
He replaces weakness with strength.

The painful process is never without purpose.
Every correction is an act of love.
Every sacrifice has meaning.
Every delay has intention.
Every breaking has a Builder behind it.
Perhaps today you feel broken.
Perhaps your dreams seem scattered into pieces.
Perhaps you have wondered whether God has forgotten you.
He instructed me to tell you this:
He is not done with you.

The very breath in your nostrils is His reminder that He is still at work.
People may have spoken negatively about your life.
Your circumstances may appear discouraging.
The news around you may seem hopeless.
But whose report will you believe?
The opinions of people who were not present when you were formed, or the voice of the One who knew you even before you were conceived in your mother’s womb?
The God who created you has not abandoned you.
He has not forgotten you.
You are not an unfinished project left on His workbench.
You are still in His hands.

He first ministered to me through the rebuilding of the MaxOhr Pen.
Then He instructed me to share that same message with others who believe that God was done with them.

The truth is, God is an expert at bringing beauty out of brokenness.
He does not waste pain.
He does not waste tears.
He does not waste seasons.
Even when everything appears to be falling apart, He is often laying the foundation for something greater than we could ever imagine.

Eventually, the rebuilding was complete.
The MaxOhr Pen v3.0 was born.
A regular writing pen.
A passive touchscreen stylus for phones, tablets, and touchscreen laptops.
Dual LED lighting for brighter study in dark and dim environments.
Enhanced Bluetooth audio with richer bass and clearer sound quality.
USB Type-C charging.

Every improvement came because the old version was willing to give way to the new.
Sometimes, those who leave simply create room for better relationships and greater connections. Rejoice!

When I built the MaxOhr Pen v2.0, it featured a Type-B charging port. Later, I removed it—not because it wasn’t working, but because I had something better in mind: a Type-C charging interface.

God will never allow an opportunity to come to an end unless He has something greater prepared as its replacement.

However, when I removed the Type-B charging port, I couldn’t immediately install the Type-C interface. Why? Because the new interface was larger and couldn’t fit into the existing opening.

Before the upgrade could happen, the pen itself had to be reshaped.

I had to cut, scrape, trim, and redesign parts of the casing to create enough room for the bigger interface.

That is exactly how God prepares us for greater opportunities.

Sometimes, before the next breakthrough arrives, God begins reshaping us.

He asks us to let go of certain habits, embrace new disciplines, develop stronger character, acquire greater wisdom, and increase our capacity—not because He wants to delay the blessing, but because He wants to ensure we can accommodate it.

The question is not: “Can God bless me?”

The real question is: “Am I capable of accommodating and managing God’s blessings in a way that glorifies Him and doesn’t harm myself or the people around me?”

Many people have lost what they prayed for because they were entrusted with more than they had the capacity to handle.

So don’t just wait.

Wait preparedly.

Allow God to reshape you.

Because bigger doors demand more.

And greater blessings require a greater capacity.

Yet even as I held Version 3.0 in my hands, another thought settled in my heart.
This is not the end either.
The Builder is still not done.
One day, there will be another version.
Another improvement.
Another refinement.
The journey continues, and that is true of every one of us.
No matter where you are today, God is still working.
No matter how much He has already done in your life, He has not finished.
There is still another level of growth.
Another level of purpose.
Another level of usefulness.
Another level of His glory waiting to be revealed.

Many people who have seen the MaxOhr Pen have expressed genuine excitement about it and look forward to owning one someday. That encourages me greatly because it confirms that practical innovation can genuinely improve everyday life.

As I looked at the completed MaxOhr Pen v3.0, one final thought remained in my heart.
I was glad that I did not leave Version 2.0 the way it was.
I was glad that I saw what it could become.
And that is exactly how God looks at us.
He sees not merely who we are today.
He sees who we can become if only we trust Him enough to yield to His Lordship and remain in His hands.
So if your life feels like it is in pieces today, don’t lose hope.
The Builder is still working.
And when He is finished…
You, too, will emerge as His masterpiece.
